I believe in the power of working in partnership with students to create engaging, authentic curricula and foster an inclusive, justice-oriented community.  I help educators build on their existing strengths and thrive.  I help schools foster student leadership; develop relevant, project-based curriculum; and use technology in the classroom to advance learning and save teachers time!  I support school leaders to design systems and structures to cultivate teacher leadership and professional growth.

Student Voice

I developed and validated a set of survey instruments that measure student perceptions of leadership opportunities.  I can use one or more of these to help gauge student perceptions of their educational environment.  After students complete the survey, I facilitate conversations with administrators, teachers, and students around areas of relative strength and areas for growth.  I develop and lead  professional development sessions tailored to your educational community's needs.

Specific supports include:

embedding student voice in pedagogy
fostering teacher-student relationships/partnerships
equipping students and teachers with research skills to conduct action research on perceived school issues
building a representative governance structure in which students and teachers have a voice in school decisions
meaningful recognition of student (and teacher) leadership

Curriculum Design

I have a deep passion for curriculum design! My expertise is in authentic, project-based learning and mastery-based assessment.  I work with teachers virtually on an on-going basis or in-person for full-day(s) curriculum design workshops.

Specific supports include:

differentiating curriculum for students with IEPs or who are new to English
building interdisciplinary curriculum with grade teams
aligning skills and content across grades within a discipline/department
working with counselors to create SEL or college/career readiness curriculum

Systems and Structures for Professional Learning

I love helping administrators build capacity for ongoing, job-embedded professional development in their schools and districts. It gives me great satisfaction to know schools don't need me anymore because they have the mechanisms in place to inquire, learn, and grow on their own.
Specific supports include:

setting up effective PLCs with data-driven routines
developing a system for peer-peer classroom visits
designing professional development calendars that feature teacher-led workshops in support of teacher-made goals

Tech Integration

Using technology effectively can enhance student engagement, differentiate instruction, and reduce the time it takes for teachers to grade assessments.   As with my curriculum coaching,  I meet with teachers regularly via video chat or lead in-person workshops for larger groups of staff.

Specific supports include:
co-planning with teachers to meaningfully  integrate technology into lessons
workshops to learn to introduce tech tools and brainstorm promising uses
creation of learning resources for tech tools (i.e. video tutorials, how-to guides)
strategies for teachers to use tech to stay organized and save time
