Professional Learning Workshop Options

Choose at least two of the following:

A) Full-day topic-focused “launch” workshop (up to six hours)
Sample Topics: Cultivate belonging through Circles; Amplify student-led discourse; Design a new unit; Develop a culture of feedback and revision
B) Half-Day Workshop (up to three hours)
In-person half-day workshops typically happen in the second half of the school year and center around a topic identified by teachers, based on site visits or ongoing coaching that has been happening.
C) Virtual Workshop (up to two hours)
Same as half-day workshops but conducted via Zoom.
D) Self-Paced Courses
If scheduling is a challenge—i.e., your PD days are already allocated for the year—teachers can learn at their own pace.  Check out the list of current courses available here. If there’s a topic that doesn’t yet have a course, let me know! We can design one for you.

Teacher Coaching Services

Choose at least one of the following:

A) Asynchronous 1:1 coaching—Student Work & Curricular Scaffolds Review
Cycles of inquiry and action research, structured similarly to effective PLCs, but asynchronously. Student work and scaffolded curricular materials are reviewed via Loom. Every 2-4 weeks, each teacher emails me lesson materials or student work completed during a lesson, and I respond with noticings, questions for reflections, and possibilities for instructional action via a Loom video—up to eight reviews total per “teacher”). I’ll use DESE’s Looking at Student Work tool to support this service. For the best capacity building, I suggest inviting one teacher per grade level to engage with this coaching. These teachers can take one of two approaches.
  • Approach #1: The teacher can be the point person for their team, sharing samples of student work from the grade team and guiding the team’s reflections and engagement around my coaching questions and opportunities.
  • Approach #2: The teacher deeply considers the student work from their own classroom, internalizes the cycle of inquiry and action research, and can serve as a “model” or “learning lab” class for others to visit and learn from, or commits to leading the team in this process the following year.

B) Asynchronous 1:1 coaching

Educators ask a question via Slack at any time, and receive an answer (and any relevant resources) from at least one coach within one business day. Great for those who have a solid foundation of curriculum design and analyzing student work, and want thought partnership on elements of planning instruction.

C) Group implementation coaching in 60-minute virtual sessions

Teachers bring questions or challenges that come up in implementing the curriculum, and I coach teachers on how they may address those challenges. For example, challenges may include: How can I pace my implementation of the curriculum so I spend time on the “important” things? How can I support my multilingual learners and students with IEPs who are struggling to read grade-level texts?

D) Synchronous 1:1 Coaching on Zoom

This service is designed for teachers who are eager to improve their pedagogical practice. We would focus on improving one or more aspects of a specific inquiry routine (e.g., improving student question generation, critical analysis of sources, and student-led discussion). Alternatively, we could also coach on the mindset and strategy around designing appropriate scaffolds for multilingual learners and students with IEPs.

Leader/Structural Support Services

Choose at least one of the following:

A) Site visit: $6,000 per day

Can include:
  • A learning walk with site leaders & other stakeholders (ideally teachers,  students, & families). Check out this podcast episode for more info.
  • The creation/ curation of relevant tools for an area of focus.
  • Data analysis about identified trends.
  • Summary of proposed next steps to the administrator or other key leaders.

B) Asynchronous coaching

This service could be used to help coaches guide teachers with the specific struggles their teachers are experiencing. Alternatively, it could be used to co-design needs-based topical workshops for the leader to facilitate (e.g., macro vs. micro scaffolding for MLLs) or co-create a student interest-driven, inquiry-based pacing guide.

C) Family coaching

This support could be used to help families learn about the content and pedagogy teachers will use to support students in the classroom and offer ideas for how family members can support students at home. An initial workshop—perhaps at a PTA meeting—will introduce families to the framework. Follow up coaching will support families to respond to specific scenarios or questions that arise in the 12 weeks after the workshop.

D) Year-long asynchronous strategic planning and/or policy revision
Asynchronous collaboration via email, using Loom to voice over key documents and data trends. Email and Loom will also be used to share initial hopes, coaching questions, and reflections. Will follow these project cycle steps:
  1. First, we will clarify the desired results for the project.
  2. The leader collects and shares stakeholder feedback.
  3. Lindsay synthesizes stakeholder feedback and drafts or revises policy documents or develops a list of recommended next steps (depending on project stage and need).
  4. Lindsay sends the draft materials for feedback from the leader.
  5. Lindsay will revise again based on the leader's feedback.
  6. The leader collects and shares the next round of stakeholder feedback, and we continue the process until the project is complete.

Example projects include:
  • New school-wide equitable grading policy
  • 5-Year School or District Strategic Plan

E) Custom-Built Resource Library
In collaboration with teachers and instructional leadership, I can build your team a customized resource library based on the specific needs and priorities of your district, school, and/or department. Resources may include, but are not limited to: a school or district-specific pacing guide that prioritizes deep discussion; competency-based rubrics for all assessments; scaffolded writing templates; and video walkthroughs of lesson internalization and planning strategies.
